Puppie
This bright white enamel sculpture conceals its utilitarian function, a vase. It evokes a "west highland white terrier" sitting on its hind legs. This dog is reminiscent of certain mass-produced animal earthenware, whose kitsch aesthetic is representative of "bad taste". For this reason, Puppie has been edited in many copies and used in various materials (plant sculptures, porcelain ...).
The dog is an emblematic figure in the work of Jeff Koons. Indeed, he offers several versions of canines, including Balloon Dog, modeled in the manner of balloons. Koons' aesthetic is influenced by Pop Art and the symbolism of childhood. His work reflects the strong influence of mass consumption and the media on Western society.
