Pendulum clock
The Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature holds three Louis XV period pendulum clocks with identical bronzes. Successively acquired because of the hunting theme of their ornamental bronzes, these objects of art and precision testify to the quality of French craftsmanship in the 18th century.
Each of the three brackets and the three cases (in painted wood, brown tortoiseshell or green horn veneer) illustrate the taste in favor in the 1750s.
The chiseled and gilded bronzes reproduce the ornamental motifs of the Rocaille style (scrolls, clasps, foliage...) on either side of the main sculptures of a hunter with a spear and a hunter sounding his horn.
