Quarry
After studying linguistics, Christine Mouraud - also known as Tania Mouraud - became a self-taught artist. She questions the relationship between art and society through different mediums and has been exhibiting since 1966. Using video since 1998, she proposes a realistic vision of her environment (water lilies, snowy horizons, urban landscapes...). La Curée (Quarry) illustrates the moment of the killing of the animal at the end of the hunt.
It lasts two minutes and shows a pack of dogs devouring a piece of meat. It is a contemporary reinterpretation of the great hunting paintings of the 17th century. The canids, abstract and noisy tasks, are filmed in a close and pixelated way. The violence reaches its paroxysm. In this way, Tania Mouraud reminds us of her interest in the digital representation of human and animal fights.
